On December 15, the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that a team of French diplomats will visit Syria to demonstrate France’s solidarity with the Syrian people and promote a peaceful transition. This diplomatic effort follows similar moves by other nations, including the United States, which has established direct contact with Hayat Tahrir al-Sham. Turkey is also reopening its embassy in Damascus and is prepared to offer military assistance to the new Syrian government.
