France, UK, and Germany Consider Renewed Sanctions Against Iran Over Nuclear Program
France, the United Kingdom, and Germany (the E3) have communicated their intentions to the UN Security Council regarding potential renewed sanctions aimed at curbing Iran’s nuclear program. In a letter dated December 6, they reaffirmed their commitment to a diplomatic resolution while emphasizing the necessity of utilizing all diplomatic tools to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. The discussions come as the 2015 nuclear deal’s Decision 2231, which expires in October 2025, approaches a critical phase. The Security Council is set to discuss the matter on Tuesday.
