French Government Holds Emergency Cabinet Meeting Amid Budget Crisis

The French government will conduct an emergency cabinet meeting on December 11 with the resigned administration. A special law will be presented to maintain public funding in the absence of a financial law following the censure of Prime Minister Michel Barnier’s government. This temporary measure will ensure state operations continue, although it will not allow for new taxes or increased spending. President Emmanuel Macron stated that the incoming government will need to prepare a new budget at the start of the year.
