The French government has presented an emergency bill aimed at rapid reconstruction efforts in Mayotte after the devastation caused by Cyclone Chido. Led by Overseas Minister Manuel Valls, the bill includes 22 articles designed to expedite urban planning for temporary housing and facilitate donations. Although the legislation aims to address immediate reconstruction needs, Valls acknowledged gaps regarding illegal housing and immigration, promising a more comprehensive follow-up bill in three months. The anticipated cost of reconstruction may reach up to three billion euros.
