French Mayor’s Association Calls for Suspension of Additional Norms
David Lisnard, president of the Association of Mayors of France, has urged Prime Minister Michel Barnier to announce an immediate moratorium on additional standards during the closing of the 106th congress of mayors. Lisnard argues that these standards hinder political action and inflate state financial burdens by 4.2 billion euros over two years. He criticizes the government for not reining in its own expenditures while imposing constraints, asserting that France has excessive public spending relative to its effectiveness.
