French Parliament Continues Work Amid Government Transition
Following the censure motion that toppled the government of Michel Barnier, the French National Assembly is in a state of transitional operations. While legislative debates are halted, committee work and other parliamentary activities will proceed. Gabriel Attal, a leader of the Ensemble pour la République group, confirmed that the assembly will operate under a caretaker regime until a new government is appointed. A potential ‘special law’ for the 2025 budget is also being discussed, enabling the outgoing government to propose limited fiscal measures.
