French Prime Minister Michel Barnier indicated he may invoke Article 49.3 of the Constitution to pass the contentious 2025 budget after it was rejected by parliament. In an interview, Barnier stated that continued debate was necessary despite the political pushback from both right and left factions. He insists that the public does not favor a government change and promises significant adjustments for local authorities while ruling out the reinstatement of the housing tax or the introduction of new local taxes. The budget is currently under review by the Senate.
