Galway Grandmother Dies After Being Struck by Vehicle Near Home

An inquest revealed that 75-year-old Peggy Casserly was fatally injured by a vehicle while crossing the N59 road in Galway, just 50 metres from her home. The driver, Conor Feeney, reported he was unable to avoid her as she crossed the road at dusk. Eyewitnesses described the incident, and the inquest concluded with a verdict of accidental death, acknowledging factors such as poor visibility and Casserly’s hurried crossing. The driver was found not to be at fault, and no prosecution was pursued by authorities.
