Gamblers Account for Nearly Half of Abusive Social Media Posts Targeting Tennis Players

A recent analysis reveals that angry gamblers are responsible for 48% of the 12,000 abusive social media posts directed at tennis players this year. The International Tennis Federation and other organizations implemented the ‘Threat Matrix’ program to monitor posts across major platforms. Of 2.47 million monitored posts, 12,000 violated community guidelines, with 15 accounts referred to law enforcement for severe abuse. Former world number one Victoria Azarenka emphasized the importance of creating a safer online space for players.
