German households reliant on gas heating are facing higher costs beginning in 2025 due to rising network fees and wholesale prices. According to Lundquist Neubauer from Verivox, the wholesale gas prices have surged to their highest level in over 13 months, influenced by low temperatures and decreased wind energy production. Major suppliers like E.ON are raising base supply prices significantly, with some customers projected to see annual costs rise by nearly 25%. Further increases in gas network charges of up to 56% are also anticipated.
