General Election Campaign Kicks Off: Parties Focus on Key Issues

As the general election campaign begins, political parties and independent candidates are actively canvassing across Ireland. After initial meetings in Dublin, today’s efforts will largely concentrate on the south and southeast regions, addressing pressing concerns such as housing, the cost of living, and public spending. Sinn Féin leader Mary Lou McDonald emphasizes the potential for change by advocating for a government without Fianna Fáil or Fine Gael, while Fine Gael’s Simon Harris and Fianna Fáil’s Micheál Martin are set to engage voters in their respective areas. Other leaders, including Labour’s Ivana Bacik, will also participate in events nationwide.
