General Electric Unions Protest Job Cuts in France’s Wind Energy Sector

Unions at General Electric are staging protests against the planned elimination of 360 jobs at two facilities in Montoir-de-Bretagne and Nantes, specialized in offshore wind energy. Workers will stop work on November 14 from 1 PM to 2 PM, with 140 positions threatened at Montoir-de-Bretagne and 220 at Nantes, where engineering and administrative staff are based. This action follows prior demonstrations and aims to challenge the company’s significant restructuring plan, ahead of negotiations over the social impact of the job losses.
