Germany Breaks Renewable Energy Records in 2024

In 2024, Germany achieved a record in renewable energy production, sourcing over 62% of its electricity from renewable sources, according to the Fraunhofer Institute. Wind energy remained the dominant source, contributing 33% of total generation, while solar energy saw a significant 18% increase. Despite a decrease in electricity from coal and nuclear, the country compensated by importing more power from abroad, resulting in a notable surplus in electricity imports over exports.
