Germany Launches €60 Million Aid Program for Syria Post-Assad
Germany’s Development Minister Svenja Schulze announced initiatives totaling €60 million to assist Syria following the fall of former President Bashar al-Assad on December 8. With 90% of the population living in poverty amid a humanitarian crisis, Germany aims to provide targeted support through UN agencies and NGOs. The funding includes €25 million for UNICEF to renovate schools and provide psychosocial support for children, and €19 million for the UNDP to create short-term job opportunities for displaced Syrians.
