Government Allocates £15 Million Fund to Combat Food Waste in England
The UK government will launch a £15 million fund in 2025 to assist charities, food banks, and homeless shelters in utilizing surplus farm food. This initiative, part of a commitment made by former Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, aims to reduce the estimated 330,000 tonnes of edible food wasted annually. Grants will help organizations acquire necessary equipment and training. Circular Economy Minister Mary Creagh emphasized the importance of supporting hungry families during the festive season while minimizing food waste.
