Greece and Egypt Strengthen Energy Cooperation Through New Electric Interconnection

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis highlighted the importance of energy collaboration between Athens and Cairo during a trilateral summit with Nicos Christodoulides and Abdel Fattah al-Sisi. The upcoming electrical interconnection aims to transfer 100% clean energy from Egypt to Greece, providing 3,000 MW of green energy. With a budget of €4.2 billion, this project is expected to enhance Europe’s energy security and contribute to decarbonization efforts. Wind energy will play a significant role due to the region’s high potential for wind generation.
