In a recent interview with Hurriyet, Greek Foreign Minister George Giorapetritis highlighted the importance of trust and open dialogue between Greece and Turkey. Ahead of his meeting with Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan, he emphasized that both countries should strive for a peaceful neighborhood, acknowledging their shared challenge regarding maritime boundaries. Giorapetritis asserted that Greece’s national sovereignty is non-negotiable while also expressing support for Turkey’s EU integration aspirations. He pointed out the necessity of reinforcing Greece’s defense in light of regional conflicts, ultimately aiming to improve bilateral relations and create stability in the region.
