Greece Experiences Hottest Year on Record Since 1970

Greece recorded its hottest year since 1970 in 2024, featuring an unusually warm winter and summer. The lowest temperature noted was -19 degrees Celsius in Florina, while the highest reached 44 degrees Celsius in several locations throughout June. Notably, an early heatwave hit before June 15, and July saw a record 16-day heatwave, although not with extreme temperatures. Tragically, nine individuals succumbed to the adverse weather conditions.
