Greece Extends Measures to Combat Sheep Pox until November 22
Greece’s Ministry of Rural Development and Food has announced a week-long extension of measures to control sheep pox, effective until November 22. The General Veterinary Directorate will reassess epidemiological data the following week to implement targeted actions. Current restrictions include a ban on the movement of sheep for fattening and breeding, with limited allowances for transfers under strict veterinary conditions. Meat transport is permitted but must adhere to stringent biosecurity protocols. These decisions follow recent outbreaks in Eastern Macedonia, Thrace, and Western Greece, aiming to curb the spread of disease.
