Greece Implements Emergency Measures Against Livestock Epidemics
In response to recent outbreaks of sheep pox in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, and the small ruminant plague in Western Greece, the Greek Veterinary Service has announced strict measures from November 8 to 15, 2024. These include the establishment of protection, monitoring, and restricted zones. All movements of sheep and goats for fattening and breeding purposes will be banned, although seasonal grazing transfers may be permitted under specific conditions. A reevaluation of the epidemiological data will take place on November 15 to determine further actions for controlling and eradicating the diseases.
