Greece Launches Comprehensive Fisheries Monitoring System

Greece’s Ministry of Rural Development and Food has announced the delivery of the Comprehensive Fisheries Monitoring and Recording System (ΟΣΠΑ), aimed at enhancing management and oversight of fishing activities. Dimitris Giantsis, Director of Projects at the Society of Information, highlighted that the system, set to complete by late 2024, encompasses various digital tools and applications. The initiative reflects Greece’s commitment to sustainable fisheries, supporting job creation and economic growth. Additionally, officials urged stakeholders in the fishing sector to leverage a new €500 million Fisheries, Aquaculture, and Oceans Program to maximize efficiency and compliance.
