Greece Legislation Advances Disability Pensions Without Job Termination

Greek officials announced new legislation allowing individuals to receive disability pensions without needing to stop working. Labor Minister Niki Kerameos explained this change aims to promote equality and improve the daily lives of thousands with disabilities. Previously, potential pension beneficiaries faced the dilemma of choosing between employment and state support. The new law, effective retroactively from January 1, 2024, requires those whose pension applications were denied due to employment status to reapply within six months to be considered under the new provisions. This initiative is part of broader efforts to support people with disabilities in Greece.
