Greece Moves to Curb Underage Alcohol Consumption

In a bid to address underage drinking, Greece’s government has formed an inter-ministerial committee led by Minister Akis Skertsos. This initiative includes key ministries such as Citizen Protection, Justice, Health, and Interior. Justice Minister George Floridis stated that legislation will be introduced soon, criminalizing the provision of alcohol to minors and closing loopholes in existing laws. Emphasizing the need for effective enforcement, he noted that police must regain the authority to conduct inspections at bars and clubs, which had been restricted previously.
