Greece Pushes for EU Support on Energy Crisis Management
Alexandra Sdoukou, Greece’s Deputy Minister of Environment and Energy, emphasized efforts to engage the European Commission in addressing the challenges facing the unified electricity market, highlighting a significant rise in wholesale prices. Sdoukou asserted the feasibility of installing 1.9 GW of offshore wind farms by 2032 but stressed the need for accelerated progress. She also celebrated the launch of a decarbonization fund unlocking €3 billion in investments primarily focused on island electrification and renewable energy projects, aiming to create substantial investment opportunities and jobs.
