The Greek government plans to fully digitize the seafarers’ registry by late 2025 or early 2026, enhancing efficiency in processing and reducing bureaucratic delays. The initiative aims to improve services for Greek seafarers and attract new entrants to the maritime profession. Funded by a €1 million recovery package, the digital system will streamline the registration process by enabling electronic applications, updates, and monitoring, which previously took years. This project reflects Greece’s commitment to modernizing maritime regulations and ensuring timely pension distributions for seafarers, benefiting both workers and shipping companies.
