Greece’s Budget Surplus Reaches €12 Billion in 2024

Greece’s budget report for January to November 2024 shows a primary surplus of €12 billion, significantly exceeding targets. Tax revenues surpassed expectations, while expenditures were kept in check. The Ministry of Finance reported that tax revenues were nearly at target levels. Key contributors to the surplus included an unexpected €206 million from an extraordinary contribution from electricity suppliers. Overall, net revenues of the state budget totaled €66.7 billion, marking a 0.46% increase over targets for the period.
