Greece’s Energy Security Boosted by New LNG Terminals

Costis Sifnaios, CEO of Gastrade, stated that Greece has sufficient natural gas supply security despite potential disruptions from Russia. With two liquefied natural gas terminals operational, Greece can meet its energy needs and support neighboring countries like Bulgaria, Serbia, and North Macedonia. The reduction of Russian gas dependency from 40% in 2022 to an estimated 13% in 2024 highlights Europe’s shift towards energy diversification. Sifnaios emphasized that price fluctuations may occur during cold weather, but supply will remain stable.
