Greek Court Reduces Sentences in Drug Fraud Case
A Greek appellate court in Patras upheld a lower court’s ruling in a drug fraud case involving a physician and two pharmacists, while reducing sentences for all convicted parties. The individuals, which included a physician, two pharmacists, and the physician’s secretary, were found guilty of serious fraud against the public, misuse of false certificates, and use of forged documents. Despite their convictions, none will serve prison time as their sentences were converted to probation. The physician was reported to have prescribed expensive medications under false pretenses.
