Greek Customs Seize Cocaine Valued Over €2.3 Million Hidden in Banana Shipment

Greek customs officials intercepted a significant cocaine shipment valued at over €2.3 million concealed within a banana container from South America, destined for Piraeus. The discovery was made by the 3rd Customs Office in Piraeus, following a risk analysis that utilized algorithms. Through X-ray scanning and a drug detection dog, authorities found approximately 51 kilograms of cocaine packaged in 50 individual units. This operation highlights the successful collaboration among Greece’s Independent Authority for Public Revenue, Coast Guard, and Organized Crime Division in tackling drug smuggling.
