Greek Farmers Struggle with Rising Electricity Costs for Irrigation
Farmers in Greece are facing severe challenges due to rising electricity bills for irrigation, which have increased from an agreed price of 9 cents to an average of 15 cents per kilowatt-hour. Local leaders, including Agricultural Association President Mr. Sesklioitis, express that the current costs are unsustainable for their livelihoods. This financial strain, compounded by additional agricultural fees and bureaucratic changes, is putting the viability of their crops at risk. Farmers plan to protest on January 15 to demand lower production costs.
