Greek Government Plans Balanced Banking Initiatives
Greek Minister of National Economy and Finance Kostis Hatzidakis announced upcoming initiatives for the banking system that will prioritize citizen and business needs while ensuring a healthy banking sector. Speaking at a forum, he emphasized the government’s commitment to monitoring bank commission policies and legislating a 50% reduction in low-value transaction fees. Hatzidakis also mentioned the introduction of the IRIS system in 2025 to ensure minimal fees for consumers, alongside efforts to enhance competition and liquidity for small and medium enterprises.
