Greek Government Seeks Funding for Olive Producers Affected by Drought

Dionysios Stametnitis, the Deputy Minister of Rural Development of Greece, responded to MP Charalampos Athanasiou regarding financial support for olive producers suffering from prolonged drought. He acknowledged the widespread issue of reduced olive yields and emphasized that current legislation does not provide insurance coverage for drought-related losses. The government plans to explore alternative funding sources, contingent on regional committees submitting requests for damages to their annual programs. If these conditions are not met, additional resources will be sought through the EU.
