In 2023, Greece’s total health insurance premiums surpassed €1 billion, reflecting a 10% increase from the prior year, according to the Hellenic Association of Insurance Companies. Individual health policies rose by 9% to €798 million, while group policies grew by 11% to over €269 million. Giannis Kantos, chairman of the association’s Health Committee, noted that despite a high cost of living, private health insurance remains a priority for many Greeks, as both individuals and businesses increasingly value group health plans for their added benefits.
