Greek Labor Union Calls for Return of Collective Bargaining Rights

Yiannis Panagopoulos, president of the GSEE (General Confederation of Greek Workers), emphasized the need for reinstating collective bargaining rights in Greece, highlighting the impact of rising living costs. He criticized the government’s handling of minimum wage increases, asserting that decisions should involve social dialogue rather than an arbitrary algorithm. The comments came ahead of a planned general strike, as unions demand a fairer process for wage determination and a more transparent approach to calculating the minimum wage, which is expected to reach €950 by 2027.
