Greek Maritime Union to Join Nationwide Strike on November 20
The Panhellenic Maritime Federation has unanimously decided to participate in a 24-hour strike on November 20, organized by the General Confederation of Greek Workers (GSEE). The strike will affect all categories of ferryboats starting at midnight. Core demands include addressing the housing crisis, restoring collective labor rights, and improving workers’ purchasing power. The union emphasizes the precarious conditions faced by Greek seafarers who work only five to six months annually. They also call for enhanced maritime safety and a new regulatory framework to ensure better working conditions and safety for passengers and crew.
