On December 8, 2023, Greek Minister of National Defense Nikos Dendias attended the celebration of the feast of Saint Catherine at the Monastery of Saint Catherine in Egypt. During the divine liturgy conducted by Archbishop Georgios of New Justiniana and All Cyprus, Dendias was awarded a medal by Archbishop Damian of Sinai in honor of Saint Catherine. The event was also attended by Greek and Cypriot ambassadors to Egypt, as well as Egyptian officials including the Governor of South Sinai, Khaled Mubarak.
