Greek Public Debt to Private Sector Reaches €3.5 Billion in October 2023

As of the end of October 2023, Greece’s public debt to the private sector has surged to €3.5 billion, increasing by approximately €700 million since December 2022. The majority of these debts, €2.8 billion, are owed to suppliers, with hospitals being the largest debtors, totaling €1.255 billion. Additionally, pending tax refunds amount to €682 million, reflecting a rise in financial liabilities across various sectors including insurance funds and local authorities.
