Hanoi’s Air Quality Crisis Prompts Push for Electric Vehicles
Hanoi, Vietnam, has seen dangerously high pollution levels, ranking as the most polluted city globally with PM2.5 measurements hitting 266 micrograms per cubic meter. The alarming air quality, attributed to traffic congestion, waste burning, and industrial activities, has prompted government officials, including Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha, to advocate for increased adoption of electric vehicles. The city aims for at least 50% of its buses and 100% of taxis to transition to electric by 2030, addressing long-standing respiratory health concerns among residents.
