Havre Port Set for €2.6 Billion Green Energy Boost
The Port of Le Havre is poised for a significant transformation with €2.6 billion in investments focused on lithium, hydrogen, and methanol, creating 640 new jobs. Economic Minister Antoine Armand praised the strategy to revitalize industrial sites, attracting foreign investors. Philippe Chalmin, an economic history professor, emphasized the importance of lithium refining for electric vehicle batteries and lamented potential delays in this initiative. The new projects include a lithium refinery and renewable hydrogen import site, highlighting France’s commitment to energy transition and reducing dependence on other countries, particularly in lithium processing.
