Starting December 19, heavy trucks over 45 tons will no longer be allowed to travel over the A12 overpasses at Velperbroek, Arnhem, due to safety concerns regarding the aging steel reinforcement in the concrete. Rijkswaterstaat notes that while there is no immediate danger of collapse, the decision is being made proactively to prevent further deterioration. A support structure will be installed beneath the overpasses in the coming months to mitigate damage from any heavy vehicles that may inadvertently cross.
