Helmond Mayor Moves to Revoke Honor from Child Abuse Suspect
The mayor of Helmond, Sjoerd Potters, announced plans to revoke the ‘jeugdlintje’ awarded to a 25-year-old man accused of abusing twenty children under the age of 12. The suspect, who previously worked as a teaching assistant, has reportedly confessed to much of the abuse that occurred between 2018 and 2023 in various locations including a local childcare center. The mayor described the situation as a nightmare for parents and emphasized the urgency of the revocation process, which does not require a final conviction due to the suspect’s admissions.
