High Waves Hit El Nuro, Peru, Causing Damage

Unusually high waves struck El Nuro, a coastline in the northwestern Piura region of Peru, on Friday, resulting in damages and sinking some fishermen’s boats, according to local media. The waves have affected the entire coastline of Piura and the neighboring northern region of Tumbes since Wednesday, December 25. A report from the Peruvian Navy indicated that the rough sea conditions are expected to continue until Wednesday, January 1, with a possibility of ongoing irregular waves beyond that date.
