The waves have affected the entire coastline of Piura and the neighboring northern region of Tumbes since Wednesday, December 25. A report from the Peruvian Navy indicated that the rough sea conditions are expected to continue until Wednesday, January 1, with a possibility of ongoing irregular waves beyond that date.
