History and Contributions of the Franciscan Sisters of Malta
The history of the Franciscan Sisters of Malta is closely linked to their founder, Margarita de Brincat, and began on November 28, 1862, in Kercem, Gozo. Their presence in Corfu has grown alongside a significant religious community and has led to the establishment of a home for impoverished elderly women in 1927. Today, the convent features an impressive nativity scene that attracts pilgrims and houses five nuns who continue to run a home for 38 residents.
