Honoring Forgotten Heroes: Over 290 Soldiers Recognized in Geneva
On November 11th, a memorial service in Geneva honored 291 French and Swiss soldiers who lost their lives in World War I. Their names were inscribed on two new plaques at the Franco-Swiss war memorial, correcting a historical oversight. This project, led by the association Mémoires, was driven by long-term archival research to uncover and remember ‘forgotten’ soldiers who served. French Industry Minister Marc Ferracci highlighted the personal stories behind each name, emphasizing the monument’s significance as it celebrates its centenary and plans for future historical narratives, including stories of World War II resistants.
