The Australian Greek community mourns the loss of Panagiotis Giannoudis, a key figure in promoting Greek cinema, who passed away at the age of 89. Giannoudis moved to Australia in 1956 and established Cosmopolitan Motion Pictures in 1958, bringing over 1,144 Greek films to Australian audiences. His efforts transformed local cinemas into cultural hubs for the Greek diaspora, hosting numerous film screenings and performances by Greek stars. Recognized for his contributions, he received the OAM medal in 2013. His legacy remains a testament to the importance of cultural representation in cinema.
