Human Rights Watch (HRW) reports that Israeli authorities have intentionally deprived Palestinian civilians in Gaza of adequate access to water, amounting to crimes against humanity and genocide. The findings, based on interviews with over 60 Palestinians and aid workers, highlight severe restrictions on water, food, and humanitarian aid following Hamas’s attack on October 7, 2023. HRW indicates that Israel’s actions may have led to the probable deaths of thousands due to starvation, dehydration, and disease, while formal responses from Israeli authorities remain absent.
