Hungary Grants Asylum to Former Polish Deputy Minister Marcin Romanowski
Hungary has offered political asylum to former Polish Deputy Justice Minister Marcin Romanowski, who is facing an EU arrest warrant issued by Poland. Romanowski’s attorney, Bartosz Lewandowski, confirmed the asylum grant, claiming that the legal actions against his client are politically motivated and threaten his rights and freedoms in Poland. The Polish Foreign Minister, Radoslaw Sikorski, condemned Hungary’s decision as a hostile action against Poland and the EU. Romanowski denies all charges of organized crime during his tenure under the Law and Justice Party (PiS).
