Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orbán announced he would invite Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to visit Hungary, guaranteeing that an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) would not be enforced. The ICC recently issued warrants against Netanyahu and others for alleged war crimes during the Gaza conflict. Orbán described the warrant as a ‘mistake’ and emphasized the importance of Israel’s political relations, particularly as Hungary currently holds the EU presidency.
