Identification of Foreign Criminals in Financial Scam against Elderly in Chania
A telephone fraud case in Chania, Greece, has been cracked with the identification of three foreign suspects who managed to swindle €20,000 from an elderly man. A woman posed as a prosecutor to trick the victim into believing his daughter was involved in a serious accident. Following a police investigation, the two male suspects were located, with part of the stolen money recovered and returned to the victim. Authorities are providing advice to prevent such scams targeting the elderly.
