The first 18 days of operation of Thessaloniki’s metro have led to a notable decrease in traffic congestion, with 12,400 fewer vehicles daily in the city center, marking a 10% reduction. The western area experienced a 14% drop in vehicle movement towards the center, while the eastern side saw a 6% decrease. However, the metro’s launch has not significantly affected traffic conditions on the Peripheral Road.
